Edna’s Rantings - New Tings and Updates.

So, since my last blog, I have had such positive feedback! Thank you so much for all the love and support. Obviously, it was a lot for me to open up like that and to receive that much kindness from people I don't even know was remarkable. So, thank you, thank you, thank you.

It's been a minute since I had my last drop in, but I just wanted to tell you what's happened, what's happening and what's about to happen.

We have officially launched our full Spring collection and couldn't be prouder. These are the first new pieces that have been released since the initial launch of Edna in July of 2017. I've mentioned before how depressed I was about the entire launch and the criticisms I faced after I launched. As anyone else, I took this to heart and really let it slow down my progress. This was my mistake and I can go over and listen to people tell me, it shouldn't have mattered. in fact, I should've used as fuel to show them what I was made of, but I didn't. What's done is done and now I have to move on an make the best of what is.
This launch is more than just a Spring collection. It is the revival of Edna. The need to succeed. The want to be successful. And with the team and driving force I have backing me, I know I will succeed.
Anywhoooo, the spring collection is a jump right into what I consider spring fashion. Lots of bright colors, patterns and styles that are still accommodating to the Vancouver weather. We've introduced organic cottons and hemp fabrics to our line. Long sleeve tees, thicker knits are key to the ever changing weather here.
We still have 2 more surprises headed your way for our Petite Coquette Collection. These 2 new styles will stay all year and the fabrics will comfortable enough to wear any season.

Also, I want to take a second to thank you an amazing human being that I would've never met if it wasn't for my beautiful Nina (click her name for her blog) Yasmine Hardcastle aka West Coast City Girl (click her name for her blog). She took a chance on me and gave me the opportunity to prove myself and the quality of my work. We worked on a collab together, which produced  an amazing pair of cropped yoga leggings highlighting the Vancouver skyline. She was such a doll in making my entire experience of doing a collaboration so, so easy. We started this project in February to begin creating something we were both proud of. The leggings were meant to be comfortable, long lasting and breathable. We started with a 3" waistband that included a back pocket, which could fit credit cards and keys, but didn't create too much bulk in the back. We added a cotton lined gusset for east of moment and breathe ability. We kept the crop to a mid-calf length and added a half inch hem to to the bottom. To complete the leggings and give it something only a true lover of Vancouver could appreciate, we silk screened the iconic Vancouver skyline 2 inches above the hemline. The end result was better than either of us could've imagined.
If you would like to be a proud owner of a pair of these leggings, they are still up for purchase in our Shop section. Use Yasmine's discount WCCG10 to get 10% off the leggings.

More tings to watch for, we are going to be slowly letting our Summer line out. This will include bright colors, cottons, mini dresses, skirts, a whole world of wonderful things.

As well, I want to take a chance to talk about something very dear to my heart that I have been working on since I launched Edna, possibly even before. I've always said that I wanted Edna to be more than fashion and I want to take what I build and use that to do something to make the world a better place. If you've known me over the last decade, you will know that our family has not had an easy go at life. My dad's illness, my sister's accident, my grampa's death, and the situation that is my life.
Edna was my escape and saved me from my self. Now, it's time for me to pay it forward.
With that, I have been working with 3 charities and will be launching t-shirts this summer in honour of them. All proceeds from t-shirt sales will be donated to the research division of each charity. If you choose to purchase one through us, our invoice will serve as your receipt. If you would like to make a straight donation, we will also have that link available on each page. As for the charities I will be supporting, they are as follows:

  • Diabetes Canada Research - in honour of my dad

  • Alzheimer Society of BC - in honour of my maternal grandma

  • Cystic Fibrosis Canada - in honour of Big Head's little girl

Once the pages are live, you will be able to read each story and why these are the charities I have chosen. Each charity will have a distinct image associated with the it and the person. This image will then be silk screened on to the shirts.
Thank you so much in advance for all your contributions and future donations. I am so excited to be starting this new chapter in Edna. Make sure to follow our Instagram page for more updates and I will probably ramble on in another 4 months. Again, thank you in advance and thank you for reading this long winded...thing.
